FIRST STEPS

Here are some simple ways to connect with the 1024 Movement and take the first steps in joining the movement.

BUT WE BELIEVE THERE IS SO MUCH HOPE FOR CHANGE.

The 1024 Movement is a community led by young people who believe that it is possible to change the direction of this crisis, one life at a time. We provide resources, training and support in order to help other young people to recognize the issues around them and become positive forces for change in their own communities.

But we are not just an organization. We are also a community and movement. We hope to empower and unleash young people around the country to help find healing and hope in desperate times.

We believe a change is on the way. Won't you join the movement?

NEXT STEPS

When you are ready, there are several ways to take a deeper dive into the 1024 Movement, but it all starts with a conversation. Let us know how we can further engage with you and your community. We offer ways to deepen your understanding, further your training and to receive support and mentorship.

DONATE

The 1024 Movement needs your help to bring healing, hope and life-saving resources to hurting young people who are suffering right now.

The mission field of hurting teens, college students and young adults is huge. Your gift of any amount will help us prevent suicides and connect young people to mental health professionals, peer support and spiritual faith communities for support.  Please join us in this critical mission saving young lives. Together, we can make a big difference helping students find healing, hope and God’s love.

The 1024 Movement is a program operating under New Hope Peninsula Ministries, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, and a validated ministry of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. Our tax ID number is: 20-1385805

We’d love to come speak at your school, university, church, parent group, mental health conference or organization! Christy, Tara, plus our team of adults and students are available to speak on a wide range of topics. We can share about the 1024 Movement, mental health, faith, and we can also facilitate our LifeLines Workshop.

SPEAKING

Our research surveyed over 500 young people age 10-24 years and asked them, “Who would you tell if you are suffering?” Over 80% said they would tell a friend, or no one. This is why our peer-to-peer training is so vital and is saving lives across the country. Students often feel helpless and inadequate when a friend shares their private pain, especially if they are in danger of self-harm or suicide. Before the pandemic, a mental health crisis was already raging with suicide being the second leading cause of death for ages 10-24 years. The pandemic has created a mental health storm to rage even more intensely, and our mission is to save lives by throwing “life lines” to suffering teens and college students, by connecting them to life-saving resources. Our LifeLines workshops equip students to recognize peers who are suffering and we give them the skills and resources to connect hurting friends to the mental health professionals, spiritual mentors and safe people for help.

LIFELINES TRAINING

We are a movement for young people and led by young people. From Florida to Hawaii, our mental health youth board is actively leading this ministry so our resources, social media,YouTube, books and mental health programs, appeal to hurting people their age, because they know what works for their generation. Our strategy is to connect as a collective group and 1:1 with our nationwide youth board. This board of teens and college students acts us an advisory board and many of them take action through contributing to our social media, writing, fundraising, trainings and more. We are piloting the LifeLines Workshop at many of their schools and college campuses. The Student Board meets monthly on Zoom to inform and shape our movement and to discern the most strategic next steps to save lives in this youth mental health crisis.
