ABOUT THE BOOK
LIFELINE
Research shows that most teens and young adults suffering from mental health problems tell no one about their private pain. More teens and young adults in America are dying from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease combined. Finding help can feel impossible. This “mental health hurricane” is threatening millions of young people who are at risk of“drowning” or dying if they don’t get help.
Lifeline is an easy-to-understand, relatable, interactive lab book that will help you understand your mental health problems and design your own customized mental health healing plan. True stories shared by young people who overcame mental health struggles will inspire you that you’re not alone. Lifeline will connect you to safe people, life-saving resources, and God who loves you unconditionally. We invite you to dive into the Lifeline book and experience it for yourself.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THE BOOK:
“In college, I got so lonely and depressed that I started binge drinking. My roommate gave me the Lifeline book, and I found a counselor, AA group and campus minister that prayed for me. Without their help,
I might not be here.”
- Sam T., College Freshman
“My panic attacks were so bad that I considered suicide. A friend gave me the Lifeline book and I connected with a crisis counselor. I really believe it saved my life.”
- Maria W., H.S. Junior

A MESSAGE FROM THE AUTHOR
Hey everyone!
I’m Christy, the lead author of Lifeline: Help In a Mental Health Storm, and I had the privilege of writing it alongside Tara Rumler, my daughter Annie, and an incredible group of teens and young adults who are deeply passionate about the mental health crisis facing your generation. My husband Ben and I are proud parents of three amazing kids—Corey (24), Annie (22), and Benji (20)—and together, we launched the 1024 Movement to support young people navigating mental health struggles.
My kids are not only my greatest joy, but also my closest confidants. One of the most valuable lessons they've taught me is this: no parent or adult can fully grasp how challenging it is to be your age in today’s broken world.
There’s a shortage of mental health professionals, and it breaks my heart hearing stories of teens and young adults dealing with issues like depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bullying, addiction, abuse, loneliness, and so much more. That’s why I’m so excited about Lifeline—it’s designed to give you your own “mental health toolbox,” helping you better understand what you’re going through and connect you with the resources and support you need.
By the time you finish this book, I hope you feel more informed about mental health, reassured that you’re not alone, and empowered with a personal plan for healing that could truly change your life. My deepest hope and prayer is that you’ll find healing and experience God’s love as you read.
"Many men struggle to address their mental health, fearing it makes them seem weak. That’s why I’m excited about the new LifeLine book. It’s a powerful resource, guiding people toward healthier ways to cope and offering real, peaceful solutions. I believe this book will help many make positive changes."
